Selectboard adopts updated procurement policy to align with Vermont statute

After three readings, the Bristol Selectboard adopted an updated Procurement Policy intended to align purchasing thresholds and authorization with Vermont statute and the Town’s current project scale. Town Administrator Greg Faust told the Board staff had cleaned up adjustments from prior notes and that many previous dollar thresholds were out of date and in some cases would have required Board approval for routine items such as pre-buying fuel.

Selectboard member Michelle Perlee moved to adopt the policy; Peeker Heffernan seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Chair Ian Albinson directed staff to finalize the policy, distribute copies, and add it to the Town’s published policy locations. Albinson also previewed upcoming policy work, including a second reading of the Personnel Policy at the next meeting and returning the Conflict of Interest Policy for a third reading after legal review.

The adoption is procedural but material to routine Town operations because it raises thresholds to reflect Bristol’s current project scale and aims to close issues identified in recent audits.
