Council certifies primary results, swears in new members and elects Nicole Buccilado as vice mayor

The Town Council adopted Resolution 1998‑26 to accept the results of the July 21, 2026 primary election and issued certificates of election to candidates who placed in the top vote positions. Lisa Garcia reported 3,354 ballots cast out of 9,337 active registered voters (33.75% turnout). She named the top vote getters for the four‑year seats and reported vote counts: Greg Curl 1,907; Les Buckner 1,888; Isaiah (spelled in the transcript) 1,727; and Jose Maldonado 1,694; Nicole Buccilado received 2,832 votes for the two‑year seat.

After the canvass adoption, the council administered certificates and swore in Greg Curl and Nicole Buccilado. The council then considered filling a vacated seat (appointing Les Buckner to a remaining two‑year term) and conducted nominations and a roll‑call vote for vice mayor. Nicole Buccilado accepted the nomination and won the vice‑mayor vote with four votes, and Mayor Eaton announced her as vice mayor.

Council and members of the public used the occasion to thank outgoing members and to highlight volunteer and community service; no contested recounts or challenges were reported at the meeting.
