The Mashpee Select Board voted to approve Eversource Energy petition number 24675265 to install two handholes and roughly 55 feet of 1-by-3-inch conduit in the Main Street right-of-way, subject to conditions requested by town staff. Michael (speaker 2) read the motion imposing conditions including: no work until after Labor Day, conduit to be bored/microtrench under Main Street and use the multi-use path, no trenching in the town right-of-way, and a requirement that Eversource or its contractor immediately notify the Department of Public Works and file for permits if a pavement cut becomes necessary.
Jessica Elders, representing Eversource, explained the petition and confirmed the company would coordinate traffic and construction details with its construction department and town staff. The board closed the public hearing, took the motion and voted unanimously in favor. As part of routine oversight, DPW asked that its additional remarks be included in the motion before the vote; the board incorporated those conditions prior to approving the work. "Jessica Elders representing Eversource. Thank you for having me this evening," Elders said when presenting the petition.
The vote authorizes the underground installation only under the stated conditions; Eversource must still comply with the town's permitting process and coordinate with DPW on any traffic-control measures.
