Select Board approves cemetery fee increases to support expansion and maintenance

The Select Board approved a proposal to increase fees at Great Neckwood Cemetery, citing the first fee change since 2017 and the need to build the cemetery fund ahead of planned expansion work. A town representative explained that proceeds from cemetery sales are held in a dedicated account for maintenance (other than labor), roads, additional columbarium space and expansion design, and that modest increases will help the town prepare for upcoming construction and upkeep.

Board members asked questions about timing and impacts; the motion to approve the fee changes was made, seconded and carried unanimously. "The last time the fees were increased was 2017," the presenter said, noting that the increases were intended to keep the account functioning and support future expansion.
