Residents urge Selectboard to fund transition support for new treasurer

Residents used the retreat public-comment slot to welcome the town’s incoming treasurer and press the Selectboard to fund outside support for a smoother transition. Lori Johnson said she was pleased the Town hired a new treasurer and recommended hiring an expert to assist during the handover; Vicky Ross (online) seconded the suggestion, naming local consultants and noting one potential consultant’s spouse is a CPA who handles accounting engagements.

Johnson urged the board to improve the budget process to make the next cycle smoother; Ross asked that reports be updated before budget work and suggested consulting auditors about reserve-handling practices. The board agreed the retreat discussion would help and tasked Town Administrator Tommy O’Connor with follow-up.
