Commissioners review stormwater, Phase 2b resiliency and $300,000 North Sewall's Point STA placeholder

The budget workshop highlighted several capital projects tied to the town’s resilience and stormwater program. Finance director Mariah Pierce recapped the capital improvement plan and said phase 2b of the resiliency program remains in the plan and staff expect grant progress and matching funds to drive implementation in FY2027.

Pierce told the commission the capital fund proposal includes a $300,000 placeholder for a possible STA (stormwater treatment area) on North Sewall's Point and that the number will be refined after the town engineer completes an estimate. "This is the 1 that we used back in April," Pierce said, adding staff will “fine tune that” and return with more precise figures at the September meetings.

Commissioners asked staff to present two cost alternatives where appropriate (repair-to-original versus a redesigned STA solution) and to confirm reimbursement arrangements with the county for grant-matching work. The town manager said he will meet with the county and the town engineer and present amended line items in September.
