Board approves annual policies and student handbooks

The board completed its required second reading and approved the annual policy series, saying there were no substantive changes to the materials presented. Board members then reviewed and approved the elementary, middle/high school, and activities handbooks in a single motion.

Board discussion noted specific handbook changes: new exempt-absence categories (including weddings and funerals), updated attendance codes, revised vehicle/parking language near the school crosswalk, technology-consequence language (including Chromebook limitations up to revocation for habitual offenders), and an adjustment to National Honor Society induction to occur in the fall for juniors and seniors. The board approved all handbooks by motion and voice vote.
