Task Force discusses silhouette and collage panel designs, requests designer layouts

Chair Lorrie Carey presented examples from Maja Design’s portfolio showing a silhouette and 3-D cutout approach to panel design and suggested the mill-district panels could feature a silhouette of the Commercial Street mills. Carey described portfolio samples showing a "panel with a 3D cutout silhouette extending beyond the panel border." The committee proposed a collage concept progressing from a canoe to floating logs, the Hannah Dustin monument with a train, and industrial buildings to represent the area's timeline.

The designer will receive the narrative content and image sources and return proposed layouts, including silhouette or cutout options and potential collage sequencing. Committee members emphasized that image sources must be documented and that QR codes could provide supplemental material beyond the panel word limit.
