Shawnee schedules public hearings on revenue-neutral rate and 2027 budget; open house set Aug. 12

The City of Shawnee will hold public hearings on Aug. 24 on whether to exceed the revenue‑neutral rate and on the proposed 2027 operational budget, the communications director reported.

Doug Donahue said the council included the two public hearings on the Aug. 24 agenda and encouraged residents to attend a budget open house on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Shawnee Town Hall to review details and ask questions. "If you have questions about the budget, stop by Shawnee Town Hall on Wednesday, August 12, from 5 to 7PM for the budget open house," Donahue said.

Donahue directed residents to the city website for the proposed budget, archived minutes and agendas; the meeting wrap-up listed a misspelled URL, which has been corrected to cityofshawnee.org for clarity. The council will consider public testimony and the staff budget during the Aug. 24 hearings before finalizing the 2027 operational budget.
