Board joins parks-and-recreation joint powers agreement to share facility costs

The board voted to join a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with the local parks-and-recreation entity to formalize facility-sharing arrangements and to offset maintenance and operational costs that currently come from the district budget. Staff said partnering with parks and recreation would help cover fertilizer, field leveling, dugouts and other recurring costs at facilities used by both the district and the community.

The superintendent recommended initial district representatives for the JPA and the board approved the nominations. Staff said the agreement preserves the district's first right of use for school activities while allowing the parks and recreation entity to help fund upkeep of shared facilities. The board authorized staff to finalize the legal agreement after attorney review.
