Residents push for Activity Center kitchen, ADA upgrades and broader modernization

Several residents and Councilmembers urged the town to prioritize Activity Center modernization, focusing on reinstalling the kitchen and fixing access barriers that limit use by seniors and people with mobility challenges. "The ramp is great, but once they get to the doors, they can’t open them," resident Diane Hildebrant said, supporting a broader modernization scope that includes ADA‑compliant doors and bathrooms.

Councilmembers and staff explored whether the town should seek SSP funds for planning/design and CDBG regional funds for implementation. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey asked whether a kitchen project could be broadened into a complete modernization package (doors, ADA bathrooms, parking), and SEAGO's Osborne advised that applicants describe the scope clearly and consider SSP for engineering so CDBG dollars fund construction rather than planning.
