District 5 posts gains on SC Ready and EOC; career‑ready credential attainment rises

A district presenter reviewed multiple standardized assessments and told the board that District 5 outperformed the state on SC Ready and showed notable gains across grade levels. "District 5 increased 0.4 percentage points from 2025 to 2026 and outperformed the state by 4.8 percentage points," the presenter said, summarizing the SC Ready ELA results.

The presenter also highlighted mathematics gains: "From 2025 to 2026 the percentage of students meeting or exceeding expectations increased by 6.5 percentage points," with especially large gains in middle grades (6th grade +6.1 points; 7th +12.3; 8th +13.5). In the district's career‑ready measure, 64.2% of District 5 students earned a level 3 or higher credential, a 2.1 percentage point increase from the prior year. Trustees asked clarifying questions about grade bands, course pathways affecting EOC samples, and whether the district would incorporate the findings into long‑range planning.
