Resident urges Dublin to disclose and limit use of mobile‑location analytics after Irish Festival

Kevin Casey, a 35‑year Dublin resident, urged the City Council to be more transparent about its use of location‑analytics vendor Placer AI and to adopt a simple address‑exclusion option to protect households from being identified by report boundaries. “If you carried a phone to the Irish Festival earlier this month, your visit was probably counted,” Casey said, adding that most visitors never saw the city’s analytics page and therefore could not request exclusions.

Casey said the city’s communications team had produced a clear location‑analytics page but that staff limited sharing of the page to residents who asked; he asked the council to direct staff to publish the page through regular channels and to maintain a short list of addresses to exclude when drawing geofencing boundaries. City staff offered legal‑team follow‑up and said they would meet with Casey to address his concerns.
