Michael Hendershot briefed council on the Deer Run Sanitary Sewer Shed infiltration/inflow mitigation pilot, describing inspection methods (nontoxic smoke testing, fluorescent dye testing, wet‑weather CCTV, and private sump‑pump visual inspections) and a communication plan (mailed notices, door hangers, signage and social‑media updates). He said the pilot targets three Muirfield Village subareas identified through flow monitoring and modeling and that inspections may extend into September, depending on rainfall.
Hendershot said prior testing (2018–2019) found cross connections and defective cleanouts; this pilot will test mitigation approaches (grouting at the wye, lining from the mainline to the right of way, or lining from mainline to the house) to determine cost‑effectiveness. He estimated roughly $850,000 for the pilot (about $150,000 for study/inspection work and the balance for mitigation measures) and said staff will return with bid acceptance and construction documents in November.
