Officials warn Cullen's water system needs chlorine soon or risk shutdown

A staff member told the meeting that the immediate technical problem is a shortage of chlorine for the municipal water system and warned of imminent service loss: "The only thing that I know is that, we are in need of chlorine. And if we do not get chlorine soon, that the system will shut down again." (Staff member, SEG 326–329.)

Mayor Brinson White and several residents said restoring chlorine and water service is the town's top priority, arguing that state fiscal administration could help secure funds and technical assistance. Attorney Josh Chevalier noted that the water system's condition is the statutory trigger that could compel state appointment of a fiscal administrator if local measures fail.
