Commissioners approve National Night Out at Bee County Courthouse lawn Oct. 10

Representatives from Coastal Bend College and Beeville Main Street asked Bee County Commissioners Court to approve use of the courthouse grounds for National Night Out on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Melissa Sanchez of Coastal Bend College described the event as a free, family-friendly opportunity to build positive relationships among residents, law enforcement, government and community organizations.

Sanchez said last year nearly 40 organizations participated and activities included laser tag and giveaways. Commissioners discussed logistics including limited electrical access for a DJ and coordination with the county maintenance supervisor, Johnny Seguin, and law-enforcement presence. The court voted to approve the request by voice vote.

Commissioners asked organizers to confirm electrical needs with county maintenance and to coordinate with the sheriff’s department for on-site safety. No fee or special conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
