Kim Davis, an extension agent with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, presented information to the court about the Healthy South Texas initiative and said three Bee County schools met the program’s criteria for recognition for the 2025–26 school year: Hampton Moreno/Dugat, Saint Philip’s Episcopal School and Saint Mary’s Academy Charter School.
Davis described programming that includes nutrition education, healthy food preparation and regular physical activity. She reported Walk Across Texas participation and mileage totals: 20,764.28 miles attributed to Hampton Moreno/Dugat kindergarten and other participation, 1,856.84 miles for Saint Philip’s students (grades 5–8) and 8,176 miles for Saint Mary’s students (pre-K through grade 6). Davis said the initiative supports reduced preventable disease through nutrition and activity education and that additional programming is planned for Bee County schools in the 2026 school year.
There was no court action required or taken on the item; the presentation was informational.
