Youth commission advances podcast pilot with KCAT support

Commissioners reviewed a successful podcast test run filmed in the chambers and discussed options for future episodes, formats and distribution. KCAT representatives offered studio access and a portable iPhone-based video kit and wireless lavalier mics; commissioners suggested recording multiple episodes in a single day and releasing them periodically.

Mayor Craig, who helped lead the test run, said the initial effort "went very well" and that with editing the material could be posted publicly: "I thought it went very well. And with with some slick editing, we could probably even post it out there." The group discussed guest formats, local history documentaries, and school-related topics; KCAT staff offered to post clips (reels) to social media and to make studio time available for youth commissioners. Commissioners agreed to draft six-to-eight episode ideas, coordinate schedules outside of meetings and aim for a recording tied to the December food-drive sorting or a Dec. 4 short meeting.
