Board approves $7,800 emergency UV system replacement and relocation

The Jewett Town Board approved payment for an emergency UV water-purification system replacement and relocation that cost $7,800.

S2 explained that the previous system failed and that New York State Department of Health guidance requires the treatment equipment to be located in the building it serves; the system was replaced and installed on Jan. 5. "The cost for the whole thing was 7,800," S2 said. Members agreed the work constituted an emergency and approved payment.

The board noted the senior center relied on the system for daily readings and that delaying repairs could have produced noncompliant readings during inspections. The board approved the expenditure and directed staff to include the charge in vouchers for payment.
