During the public-comment portion of the April 22 meeting, Rachel Flores asked the board to consider setting aside dedicated summer pool time for disabled students and raised a separate question about career training for special-education students.
"Rachel Flores spoke to the board to ask if it would be possible to set up a specific time for disabled students to use the swimming pool in the summer," the minutes state. The board did not record a formal response or a staff commitment in the minutes.
Another member of the public, Jose Reyes, requested a facility-use permit to reserve the Mendota High School gym for recreational basketball for students "3 or 4 days out to the week for 2 to 3 hours." The minutes record the requests but do not indicate whether the district granted the permit or set a follow-up date.
The minutes also include a public compliment from Reed Dustin praising the teacher candidates being approved that evening.
