Several residents spoke during the public comment period asking the council to approve a short-term rental request for a local family. Janine Hummer introduced herself as a character reference for Bob Mangione and his wife, Marisol, telling council the couple has provided community service and that allowing a short-term rental would help their family during his cancer treatment. "I'm here as a character reference, I guess, for Bob Mangione and Marisol," she said.
Other speakers echoed that appeal. A Martinez (Benton County) reiterated Bob's community contributions, and Doug Perez, who operates short-, mid- and long-term rentals, offered to help the family navigate operations but cautioned that regulating short-term rentals would require city staff resources. Earlier in the public comment period a speaker identified as Rangioni volunteered to serve as a liaison to help implement an STR program, saying he was "ready to help implement an STR program potentially as a pilot as other cities have done successfully." Council members noted the policy decision would affect all Pasco residents and indicated the topic will return for formal consideration at upcoming meetings.
