City awarded $47,500 CDBG grant to replace neighborhood-center elevator panel

Peter Erwin, the assistant planning director, told the council the city was awarded $47,500 through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to replace the electrical panel that controls the neighborhood-center elevator. Erwin said the existing panel is approximately 40 years old and that replacement quoted at roughly $90,000 requires a 50% local match under the CDBG rules; the council had previously identified the local-match source when applying in 2024.

Erwin said the panel had a prior failure in 2019, which was the impetus for the grant application. With council concurrence he will return a resolution accepting the grant on Aug. 17 and recommended the city proceed to procurement and scheduling for the replacement work.
