Fayette County School Corporation superintendent ties veterans' sacrifice to education

Jeremy Duncan, identified as superintendent of the Fayette County School Corporation, told the crowd a personal story about an apple that symbolizes his grandfather's service in the Korean War. "To most people, it just looks like a a decorative apple, but to me, it represents 1 of the most meaningful possessions that I own," he said, describing how the item and an honorary diploma shaped his view of education and gratitude.

Duncan said educators should teach students about sacrifice and community responsibility. "To remember the sacrifices that have been made, to remember the individuals who gave those sacrifices," he said, framing veterans' stories as lessons for young people and urging continued community support for students and service members.
