Parents raise objections to proposed classroom posters and ask for clearer guidance

Several public commenters used the citizen participation period to press the board on parental rights and district policy for instructional materials. Jennifer Chenette asked why parents could not "opt in" for posters and warned that some posters risk religious instruction; trustees and others interjected with points of order about germane topics but allowed the speaker to complete her remarks.

Another speaker, later introduced for citizen participation, criticized proposals to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms and framed that debate in the context of prior library controversies and state character education law. Trustees said policy revisions are being considered and that first readings will return for further consideration in September.
