Dusha Van Letkonen (voice 10), speaking as a library employee and resident, described repeated problems with people parking in library-designated spots for non-library purposes, including at times when the library closes part of the lot for events. She said signage is inconsistent, drivers claim they "don't see" library-only notices, and confrontations have occurred when staff asked drivers to move.
"That little lot is a 4 hour lot, and it is explicitly library only, and people still abuse it," Van Letkonen said, adding that the Parrot Ave municipal lots need to be named clearly in future communications and enforcement increased during ball fields and other high-attendance events. Committee members and staff said they are aware of the issue and that parking enforcement has been monitoring the area; staff agreed to return with recommended signage or procedural fixes at the next meeting.
