Councilor Flynn briefs EDC on parking work session, housing action plan and childcare report

Councilor Flynn (speaker 6) gave the commission a city-council update that highlighted several items of local policy. He said a work session on parking fees is scheduled for Aug. 17 and noted public feedback (including a petition with about 2,000 signatures) on the downtown workforce/employee parking program. He also summarized that housing-action materials presented to council would move to the planning department for zoning review, and he praised a council report on childcare that included five recommendations to make startup and compliance easier for providers.

Flynn also mentioned ongoing public input on a redesign project (the DPW project dashboard shows active road and infrastructure work) and a municipal-arts-banner pilot that will be tested next year. He encouraged EDC members to attend the parking work session and to review the project dashboard for details about current DPW projects.
