JCDOT mid-year budget amendment cuts some federal grant revenue and OKs resident-funded Cambria Drive project

The Jackson County Department of Transportation presented its June 30 financial statements and a mid-year budget amendment that staff said reduces originally budgeted federal grant revenue by roughly $3,800,000 and reduces primary-road revenue by about $2,900,000 as project timings change.

The department also asked the committee to support accepting Cambria Drive as a public road once residents or the township complete construction to county standards. Staff said the neighborhood will pay 100% through a township special-assessment district and that the road is short (about 600 feet). Commissioners voted unanimously to forward both the budget amendment and the Cambria Drive recommendation to the full board.

"So in the federal grants for the revenue, we are decreasing the original budget by $3,800,000 on the revenue side," the transportation presenter said. The committee discussed maintenance, the county's eventual snow-removal responsibilities and how state certification will add funding for maintenance after acceptance.
