Built in Jackson program: 9 of 10 homebuilders approved as talent-attraction effort advances

Accelerate Jackson presented details about its talent-attraction and housing efforts, describing a package that pairs incentives, down-payment assistance and a 100-homes program intended to attract workers. "We've approved 9 out of our target of 10 approved applicants, who will be building new homes in the city of Jackson," Marsha Gabrowski said during the semiannual report.

The program is a collaboration with the county, Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Works and the community foundation; staff said the initiative is paired with other recruitment incentives intended to ease relocation for workers and support local housing supply. Accelerate Jackson will continue application processing and partner outreach as the program moves toward home construction.
