Chamber says county hotel occupancy at about 60.1% and highlights incoming Jackson Generals

Rachel Buchanan, vice president of marketing and communications for the Jackson Chamber and Experience Jackson, told the board that Jackson County's 12-month hotel occupancy is about 60.1% and that figure matters to developers considering hotel investment. "From this time last year, we are now at 60.1% occupancy," she said, noting sustained occupancy can attract new hotel development.

Buchanan also described marketing initiatives, including a new 20,000-copy visitors guide and Storyville partnership features. She highlighted a viral social media video with more than 1,000,000 views and said the Chamber is supporting the incoming Jackson Generals minor-league hockey team as a sponsor; she told the board the team will play about 25 home games and has scheduled its first game on Halloween.
