Superintendent reports rising enrollment, describes gym water-line damage and repair timeline

Superintendent Nathan Gottlieb told the board that two weeks prior the district's fall enrollment count stood at 2,275; the district’s updated figure is 2,297 — “So in the last 2 weeks, we've picked up 22 students,” he said — and the count will continue to change as part-time enrollments reconcile.

Gottlieb described a water-line break that affected gym and locker-room areas. He said contractors and an insurance representative were scheduled to take samples overnight to speed remediation and that removal of damaged flooring would begin the following day. “It is not unreasonable, believe it or not, that we could have a floor in place by September 1,” Gottlieb said, but he added final replacement depends on the insurance company's approval and vendor scheduling. The district is deferring bills to the insurance adjuster while sampling and cleanup continue.
