Board renews MOUs with West River Mental Health and RSVP volunteers

The board approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with West River Mental Health that permits the provider to use district space to serve families who opt in to services. Superintendent Nathan Gottlieb said the district does not charge West River rental fees and that the MOU includes background-check requirements; he stressed that the district does not provide or prescribe the mental-health services.

The board also unanimously approved a routine MOU with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Gottlieb said RSVP volunteers must be approved by building principals, are covered by RSVP insurance and the district's workers' compensation if an accident occurs while volunteering, and that the arrangement gives volunteers purposeful assignments in district buildings.
