District staff described a complex drainage and roadway project to address chronic runoff near the high school. The scope included raising the intersection, installing culverts and new curb and gutter, regrading about 700 feet of roadway and replacing drain inlets and pipe to increase capacity during rain events.
The presenter told the board the project "would require partial shutdowns of lanes during construction" and said the anticipated construction window "would be 90 days." Board members emphasized the city will need to participate because the work affects public streets, and discussed temporary traffic impacts and bus routing while construction is under way.
Members expressed concern about impacts to teacher parking, bus drop‑off and adjacent properties and urged coordination with the city, noting some residents already experience flooding in nearby yards. Administration said it will bring firm cost estimates and coordinate scheduling and required permits with the city before beginning work.
