Council discusses tower options, tables update until Sept. 8

The council received no new update from David Beck on the communications tower and tabled the item until the Sept. 8 meeting at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Cody Ireland said he had talked with the Chula Fire Department about a direct feed or placing a repeater on one of the department's towers and noted the fire department would be responsible for maintaining antenna/repeater lines if that approach were used.

Alderman Benny Simpson said he spoke with Tom Weitzel and that Weitzel is "okay with boundaries for tower." The mayor said he will call Paul to discuss contracts related to the tower project. The minutes do not record a formal decision; council members moved to postpone further action to the next scheduled meeting.
