Communications staff updated the committee that 911 and administrative call volumes rose from June into July, with nearly 11,500 calls for service answered year to date by county dispatchers. The report credited dispatchers' efforts amid a busy summer event schedule and highlighted attached numbers showing the increase.
"We completed our Sawyer County National Night Out event. We had nearly 400 participants, families that come out, cops and bobbers on 08/08/2026," staff said, and noted outreach and volunteer involvement from local partners. The communications report also described work on a 2026 computer and HazMat grant to upgrade HazMat equipment and a Sawyer County Hazard Mitigation Open House held July 15; the next mitigation plan will be submitted to Wisconsin Emergency Management for review.
Staff thanked dispatchers for their service and said that the HazMat and mitigation efforts include collaboration with local and regional partners. No formal committee action was taken; staff will pursue grant opportunities and return updates as grant and mitigation plans progress.
