Commissioner outlines Route 2 contract changes and defends county NextGen 911 staffing standard

"We would never ask anyone nor would any rational person ask someone to pay for something 2 times," the commissioner said. The same commissioner also discussed NextGen 911 implementation and defended a committee decision "to require every dispatch center in Lake County to have 2 dispatchers on 24 7." He said the standard arose from an assessment of workload and public-safety risk tied to NextGen capabilities, and that the county's intent is not to generate profit from dispatch services but to improve safety. "Our interest is in providing the best, highest quality of first responder urgency services to Lake County," he said.
