Staff told the commission that North St. Paul City was included among cities selected by the Met Council for planning grants; the city expects roughly $40,000 in noncompetitive grant money to offset the comprehensive-plan update cost. "North Saint Paul is 1 of those," a staff member noted about the Met Council grant selection during the report.
Staff also said the city is surveying and preparing a replat of the community-center parcel because of a potential buyer, and that a draft work plan with WSP is close for the comprehensive-plan update. The city is initiating a Medyke Fields study that will include wetlands delineation and soil borings to inform redevelopment options. Finally, staff said a new solid-waste contract with Tennis Sanitation begins Sept. 1 and will allow up to eight free bulky-pickup items per household per year; mattress removal is not included in the free pickups. Commissioners shared brief updates and thanked staff for responsiveness.
