Youth commissioners plan podcast and ramp up social media for outreach

Commissioners discussed improving outreach this year through a planned podcast and more active social media. One youth commissioner said the podcast "can promote the Instagram, and the Instagram could promote the podcast and all the activity that we do," and several volunteers offered to help create colorful, kid-friendly flyers using tools such as Canva to advertise events.

Staff encouraged commissioners to take the lead on promotion and asked volunteers to coordinate with staff so materials could be posted on the city's website and shared with schools. The commission agreed to create small activity subcommittees that would handle promotion and logistics for each event.
