Judge Boyd signals December probation termination for defendant if treatment continues

Judge Stephanie Boyd told a defendant and his counsel that, if he continues to attend treatment and remains compliant with probation, the court expects to terminate his supervision on Dec. 7.

"So we're looking towards terminating you in December, which means you'll be done with your probation," Judge Boyd said, explaining she would set a December 7 hearing at 9 a.m. and asked the defendant to stay medication- and treatment-compliant. Defense counsel reported the defendant had signed up for anger-management classes and was reporting as required.

The court directed the defendant to continue monthly proof of mental-health services and to remain in contact with his probation officer. The prosecutor and probation recommended monitoring through the center for healthcare services and asked the court to reserve the option to recall the matter if problems arise.

If the defendant remains in compliance, Judge Boyd said she would formally consider terminating supervision on Dec. 7; she asked counsel to ensure the defendant and the probation office are prepared to attend the Zoom hearing.
