Bakersfield DRB approves boundary‑line adjustment to let homeowner build garage

The Bakersfield Development Review Board voted unanimously to approve a boundary‑line adjustment that will allow a homeowner to site a new garage on his property, the board said at its meeting.

Applicant Gene Shivered told the board he seeks the change so he can build a 30‑by‑40 garage on the northern side of his lot at 137 Paradis Lane and said he had a surveyor outline the proposed lines. "I made tonight to request approval for the manual adjustment to allow me to build my 30 by 40 garage on the northern side of my property," Shivered said.

Board members reviewed the red (proposed) and black (existing) lines on the submitted drawings and asked the applicant to add standard plat details before the town will record the change. Chair Bill Irwin said the submission contained many required elements but asked the applicant to work with the surveyor and town staff to add utilities, contour lines and any wetlands information so the final plat meets the town's checklist.

The board moved and seconded a motion to approve the boundary line adjustment as a final plat provided the applicant completes the specified drawing requirements and files a Mylar copy with the town clerk. The chair called the vote and the motion passed 4–0.

The board noted it would not require a further hearing if the applicant satisfies the listed plat conditions; once the Mylar is recorded the chair will sign and the change will be entered into the town's official records.
