Police report flags speeding and traffic incidents in highway construction zone

Police Chief Theron Fielding presented the April status report, saying the department currently has one officer in training and one on light duty. Chief Fielding reported increased traffic incidents in the highway construction zone and continuing problems with speeding, particularly near the area where a lane ends; he described enforcement in that area as logistically difficult because of limited interception opportunities.

On animal-control matters, Fielding said two cows were found running at large and will appear in the next month's report; he noted dog-related calls remain relatively low. The council thanked the police department for recent communications and information-sharing.
