Senior Commission schedules July 6 picnic, plans health fair and summer activities

The Senior Citizens Commission on June 6 scheduled an Old Fashioned Picnic for July 6 at 12:00 p.m. and noted plans for a health fair and other summer programming. Chair Paula Frie confirmed the picnic will be held outdoors and be accompanied by "yard games and food."

Members discussed additional low-cost social activities to boost participation. Paula Frie suggested "having a bingo night at the senior center," and Commissioner Tina Giuffre proposed a trivia game night; other ideas included forming senior league activities and a "seniors helping seniors" volunteer program and recruiting seniors to assist in local schools. The commission also recorded that the Senior Center will hold a health fair; the minutes do not specify a date.
