Insurer denies Winter Harbor dock-repair claim; town considers legal action, board to vote next meeting

Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb told the Selectmen that the town's insurer (MMA) has advised that roads and retaining walls are not covered for the recent dock damage and that D.C. Air & Seafoods' insurer denied the claim to cover dock repairs. Liscomb said MMA suggested pursuing legal action "as we have great video evidence," and the board agreed to place a vote on the matter at the next meeting.

Public commenters and board members expressed concern. H. Faulkingham said there "was not a weight limit posted on the dock," C. Byers noted "there are not hard feelings, this is why we have insurance," and S. Fortin said she "does not want to raise taxes to repair the dock." R. Hemenway told the board he would be absent for the vote but was comfortable moving forward at the next meeting.
