Neighbors urge strict construction hours, on-site parking and quick repairs after Quick Check experience

Residents who spoke at the Aug. 6 meeting focused on enforcement of construction conditions and mitigation of construction impacts on Mohawk Avenue. Victoria and Tim Galvin thanked the applicant for responsiveness but recalled problems during Quick Check and Chipotle construction when contractors arrived before permitted hours, worked on holidays and parked on neighborhood lawns, sometimes blocking school-bus access.

They asked who the town holds accountable when contractors violate hours or parking rules. Board members and the applicant discussed tools the town can use: including adding construction hours and parking restrictions to the stamped construction-sequence plans, holding preconstruction meetings to review conditions, installing temporary 'no parking' signs enforceable by the sheriff, and requiring the contractor to complete post-construction landscape restoration within a short, stipulated period. The applicant agreed to add construction hours (applicant noted an 8 a.m. start is typical) and to include stipulations in the construction sequence plans that the contractor must adhere to, as an enforcement mechanism.
