Treasurer asks to transfer $2,246.95 in dormant ORB interest to general fund

Treasurer Nicole told the board an auditor review found a small, restricted ORB account that has accrued $2,246.95 in interest over roughly a decade and shows no documentation tying it to an active grant. She recommended transferring the interest into the county general fund.

"I'm requesting that we go ahead and transfer that $2,246.95 to the general fund," Nicole said, explaining that records in the county system go back to 2017 and show only interest on the account. Commissioners discussed whether the funds might properly belong to a program fund but accepted that without documentation the auditor advised moving the interest into the general fund. Staff said they will continue to search historical records and identify other dormant accounts as part of an ongoing cleanup.
