Solid Waste Board votes to replace transfer-station scale; cost borne by landfill fund

Board members reported that the Solid Waste Board met Dec. 3 and voted to replace the scale at the county transfer station. The decision followed discussion about what equipment belongs to the authority and what the operator (under contract) is responsible for maintaining.

A supervisor said the replacement will be paid from landfill funds rather than county general funds and that procurement will likely come from a local company, Sula and Scale. The board also discussed selling old equipment such as an unused cardboard baler and an old scale if they are not needed by the current operator.
