Director of Schools outlines three priorities for Rutherford County’s new school year

The Director of Schools for Rutherford County opened the district’s back-to-school address by saying the community should be excited about the new year and the opportunities for students. The speaker emphasized a people-first approach and thanked staff and families for their support.

The director laid out three district priorities: focusing on people, ensuring consistency and safety, and simplifying communications and processes. The address noted the district serves "over 52,000 students, 6,600 employees, 3,600 certified staff," and credited district culture and community support for keeping openings low. The director also described two new tools—Synergy for attendance and grades and Apogee for districtwide communications—that are intended to centralize and simplify parent access.

The director said state academic results will be released by the Tennessee state department and indicated those results will show record-setting performance for the district once published. The speaker closed by noting it is their fifth year as director and expressing gratitude to the community.
