Board keeps four broad goals and asks superintendent for specific priorities

Trustees discussed whether to keep last year's four board goals or replace them with more targeted, measurable priorities. Multiple trustees said the four pillars provide a useful framework that allows the superintendent and staff to propose specific initiatives that the board can then approve. "I appreciated that our goals, again, were broad and they allowed...flexibility to our administration to then set those priorities accordingly," the acting presider said when opening the discussion.

Several trustees suggested revising the fourth goal (facilities) to highlight future planning, operations and fiscal stewardship; one trustee proposed the umbrella 'future-ready schools' as an option. The board directed the superintendent to develop district-level priorities that align under the agreed pillars and to return with those priorities early in the school year for board review and possible refinement.
