Brownsville ISD trustees elect Carlos Elizondo as board president in 4‑2 vote

During the special called meeting, Trustee Minerva Pena moved to restructure the Board president seat and nominated Carlos Elizondo; Trustee Frank Ortiz seconded the nomination. The motion passed with four trustees voting in favor (Elizondo, Ortiz, Pena and Grantland) and two opposing (Denise Garza and Daniella Lopez Valdez). The Board recorded the outcome as 4‑2‑0.

After the vote President Lopez Valdez offered brief remarks thanking the community for the opportunity to serve as president and pledged to continue serving as a trustee.
