Brownsville ISD thanks interim superintendent Alda Benavides for operational gains during transition

President Daniella Lopez Valdez publicly thanked Interim Superintendent Dr. Alda T. Benavides for her work during the district's transition period. In prepared remarks the Board cited actions taken under Dr. Benavides' leadership, including strengthened emergency preparedness, central office reorganization, improved administrative accountability, compliance resolutions and identification of nearly $778,000 in operational savings.

Lopez Valdez said the interim period produced improvements in Career and Technology education support, counseling services, campus leadership and communications. The recognition was presented in open session prior to the Board's closed‑session review of the new superintendent's contract. No departure date or subsequent role for Dr. Benavides was stated in the posted minutes.
