Residents urge Activity Center kitchen and ADA upgrades as top CDBG candidate

Diane Hildebrant told the council the Activity Center needs both a working kitchen and better ADA access, saying the ramp is in place “but once they get to the doors, they can’t open them.” She asked the council to include kitchen restoration and door accessibility in the candidate project list for CDBG consideration.

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey and SEAGO staff discussed the scope of an Activity Center project and confirmed that a submission may include broader modernization (ADA‑compliant doors and restrooms, accessible parking) and that SSP funds could cover engineering and design work so future CDBG construction dollars would be focused on implementation. Councilmember Christy Hirshberg and other residents suggested an upgraded kitchen and rentable community space could generate revenue and expand programming for seniors and small businesses.
